David Hicks ski jumped until he graduated from college. He started at the age of 13 and competed in many competitions. He was a member of the U.S. Ski Team and competed in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. He was a very talented ski jumper and had a promising career ahead of him, but he decided to retire from the sport after college.
