Pierre Sarr N'Jie was the first Prime Minister of The Gambia, serving from 1962 to 1967. He was appointed by the British colonial government after the country gained independence in 1965. N'Jie was a member of the United Party, which was led by Dawda Jawara. Jawara became Prime Minister after N'Jie resigned in 1967.
