Djedkare Isesi was a Pharaoh of the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt, during the Old Kingdom. He ruled for a long time, according to ancient Egyptian sources, perhaps as long as 40 years, and his reign was a time of prosperity and stability. He is often credited with founding the pyramid complex at Saqqara, which is the second largest pyramid in Egypt.
