Doddie Weir started playing for Newcastle Falcons in 1997. He was a flanker and was known for his hard-hitting style of play. He played for the club for 11 seasons, during which time they won the Premiership twice and the European Challenge Cup once. He also represented Scotland 61 times, captaining the side on 13 occasions. Weir retired from professional rugby in 2008 due to a spinal condition.
