Aberdeen South was the first parliamentary constituency represented by Donald Dewar. He was elected as the Labour MP for the constituency in 1978, and served in that role until 1983. Dewar was a prominent figure in the Labour Party, and later became the First Minister of Scotland from 1999 until his death in 2000.
