Donald Dewar was first elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Aberdeen South in 1966. He held this position until 1979, when he lost his seat to the Conservative candidate. Dewar was a prominent figure in the Labour Party and later served as the First Minister of Scotland from 1999 until his death in 2000.
