Douglas Dean Osheroff was born in 1945 in Aberdeen, Washington, United States. He is an American physicist who received the 1996 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on the superfluid properties of liquid helium-3, in which he was one of the first to observe superfluidity in a fermionic system. He is a professor at Stanford University.
