E. E. Cummings was born Edward Estlin Cummings in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Cummings attended Harvard University, where he studied English literature and wrote for the Harvard Advocate. After graduating from Harvard, Cummings moved to Paris, where he lived and worked for several years. He returned to the United States in 1920 and settled in New York City.
