Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on July 21, 1899. However, he spent much of his childhood in Michigan, where his parents owned a summer home in Horton Bay. Hemingway's experiences in Michigan, particularly his fishing trips on Lake Michigan, would later inspire some of his most famous works, such as "The Old Man and the Sea" and "A Moveable Feast."
