Élisabeth Borne is the first woman to serve as the Prime Minister of France since Édith Cresson, who served from May 1991 to June 1992. Borne was appointed by President Emmanuel Macron on 16 May 2022, following the resignation of Jean Castex. She is a member of the Socialist Party and has previously served as Minister of Labour, Employment and Integration from 2017 to 2020.
