Eadred became King of the English in 946 after the death of his father, Edmund. He was a young man when he became king, and he faced a number of challenges, including Viking raids and rebellions from his own nobles. However, he was able to overcome these challenges and rule successfully for 12 years. He died in 958 and was succeeded by his brother, Eadwig.
