Munch's later years were spent in peace and privacy. In 1908, he returned to Norway and moved into a house in Ekely, a suburb of Oslo. The house was located on a hill with a view of the Oslofjord. Munch spent the rest of his life there, working on his art and writing. He died in 1944 at the age of 80.
