Edward Berry was the first Rhodes Scholar from the University of British Columbia. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia, in 1874 and graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1897. He then went on to study law at Oxford University, where he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship. After graduating from Oxford, Berry returned to Canada and practiced law in Victoria.
