Edward Carson served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Dublin University from 1895 to 1918. He was a Unionist and a strong advocate for Irish unionism, and he played a leading role in the Ulster Crisis of 1912-14. Carson was born in Belfast in 1854 and he was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He became a barrister and he was elected to the House of Commons in 1895.
