Edward Carson was a British lawyer and politician who served as the first Lord of Parliament for Ulster. He was a prominent figure in the Ulster Unionist Party and led the Ulster Volunteers during the Home Rule Crisis of 1912-14. After the outbreak of World War I, Carson was appointed to the Royal Navy as a Lieutenant-Commander. He served on the North Sea and in the Dardanelles campaign.
