Which of his students developed the "Sapir–Whorf" hypothesis?

  • Benjamin Lee Whorf

  • Fred Eggan

  • Hortense Powdermaker

  • Mary Haas

Answer

Benjamin Lee Whorf was a student of Edward Sapir and developed the Sapir–Whorf hypothesis. He believed that the language one speaks determines how one sees the world. For example, if a language has a word for a color that another language does not, speakers of the first language may be more likely to notice that color.
