Thomas Seymour, 1st Baron Seymour of Sudeley, fought in the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, a decisive victory for the English against the Scots in 1547. He was a younger brother of King Edward VI's uncle, Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset, and was one of the leading figures in the government of the young king.
