Edward Teller was ostracized by much of the scientific community after his actions against J. Robert Oppenheimer. Teller testified against Oppenheimer during the latter's security clearance hearing in 1954. Teller's testimony was a major factor in Oppenheimer's loss of security clearance, and it caused a rift between Teller and many of his colleagues.
