Who proposed the idea of galaxy's recessional velocity increasing with distance, that Hubble proved?

  • Georges Lemaître

  • Johannes Kepler

  • Albert Einstein

  • Edvard Hubble

Answer

Georges Lemaître, a Belgian Catholic priest and physicist, was the first person to propose the idea that the universe is expanding, and that the expansion is causing the recessional velocity of galaxies to increase with distance. He proposed this idea in 1927, but it was not until the 1930s that Edwin Hubble provided observational evidence to support it.
