Eleanor of Aquitaine had eight children, including Richard the Lionheart. Richard was born in 1157, the third of Eleanor's five sons with her second husband, Henry II of England. Richard was a skilled military leader and a popular king. He died in 1199 after being injured in a hunting accident.
