Venizelos played a catalytic role in the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913. He was the leader of the Liberal Party and was the Prime Minister of Greece from 1910 to 1915 and from 1917 to 1920. Venizelos was a strong advocate for Greek expansionism and he believed that Greece should expand its territory to include all of the territories that were once part of the Byzantine Empire.
