Elizabeth Stuart was born in Scotland. She was the daughter of King James VI of Scotland and Anne of Denmark. Elizabeth was born at Linlithgow Palace on 19 August 1596. She was the first of their children to be born in Scotland, and her birth was celebrated with great rejoicing. Elizabeth was a sickly child, but she survived to become a strong and independent woman.
