She was the daughter of Richard Woodville, the 1st Earl Rivers, and Jacquetta of Luxembourg, the widow of John, Duke of Bedford. Elizabeth's family was prominent and well-connected in the English court. She married King Edward IV in 1464, becoming Queen of England.
