From 2000 to 2005, Emmerson Mnangagwa served as the Speaker of the Zimbabwean Parliament. He was elected to this position by the ZANU-PF party, which held a majority of seats in the parliament. Mnangagwa is a longtime member of ZANU-PF and has held several other government positions, including Minister of State Security and Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.
