Zaichun, the son of Cixi, was more known as the Tongzhi Emperor. The Tongzhi Emperor ruled China from 1861 to 1875. He was the second son of Cixi, and was enthroned at the age of three after the death of his father, the Xianfeng Emperor. The Tongzhi Emperor was a weak and sickly child, and his mother, Cixi, exercised great control over the government during his reign.
