Wanrong was the wife of Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty. Puyi and Wanrong were married in 1922, as part of an arranged marriage orchestrated by Puyi's father. The marriage was not a happy one, as Puyi did not love Wanrong and often neglected her. Wanrong eventually became addicted to opium and was said to have suffered from mental illness.
