Paul Kehoe replaced Enda Kenny as Minister for Defence in 2017. Kehoe had previously served as Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government and Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport. He was appointed to the Defence portfolio after Kenny resigned as Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader following the party's poor performance in the 2016 general election.
