Enver Pasha was a leading figure in the Young Turks movement, a group of Turkish nationalists who overthrew the Ottoman Empire in 1908. After the empire's defeat in World War I, Pasha led the Turkish forces in a campaign against the Greeks in Anatolia. This campaign resulted in the deaths of around 750,000 Greeks, as well as the destruction of many Greek villages and towns.
