Answer
Julius Maada Bio succeeded Ernest Bai Koroma in March 2018. Bio, a retired brigadier general and former head of state, won the presidential election with 51.8% of the vote, defeating Samura Kamara of the ruling All People's Congress. Bio's victory marked the first time in Sierra Leone's history that an incumbent president had been defeated at the polls.
