Saint Denis was the basilica restored by Abbot Suger. Suger, a Benedictine abbot and advisor to King Louis VI of France, played a pivotal role in the renovation and expansion of the basilica. He commissioned the construction of a new choir and ambulatory, as well as the addition of stained-glass windows.
