Ewa Kopacz succeeded Donald Tusk as Prime Minister of Poland in 2014. Tusk had been Prime Minister since 2007, and was a member of the Civic Platform party. Kopacz was also a member of the Civic Platform party, and had served as Minister of Health in Tusk's government. She was elected as Prime Minister by the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament.
