Fath-Ali Shah was the king of Iran from 1797 to 1834. He saw himself as the successor of the Sasanian Empire, which was a Persian empire that ruled from 224 to 651 CE. The Sasanian Empire was a powerful empire that controlled much of the Middle East and Central Asia. Fath-Ali Shah wanted to restore the glory of the Sasanian Empire and he tried to emulate the Sasanian kings.
