Felipe González obtained a law degree from the University of Seville in 1965. He then worked as a lawyer before becoming involved in politics. In 1974, he was elected to the Spanish parliament and served as prime minister from 1982 to 1996. During his time in office, he oversaw Spain's transition to democracy and its entry into the European Union.
