Yusupov, princely Russian family originally from Central Asia. Prominent from the 16th century, they served in both military and civil posts and were particularly influential during the reigns (1682–1725) of Peter the Great and (1762–96) of Catherine II. The family died out in the male line in 1942, but the name was continued through Felix Felixovich Yussupov, Count Sumarokov-Elston (1887–1967).
