Ferdinand I was born on March 10th, 1503. He was the second son of Philip I of Castile and Joanna of Castile, and the younger brother of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. Ferdinand I was a Habsburg, and he inherited the thrones of Austria, Hungary, Bohemia, and the Holy Roman Empire. Ferdinand I was a strong ruler, and he helped to unite the Habsburg lands.
