Ferdinand I was the Emperor of Austria from 1835 to 1848. He was born in 1793 and was the only son of Francis II, the last Holy Roman Emperor. When his father died in 1835, Ferdinand inherited the Austrian throne. He was a weak ruler and was unable to deal with the political and economic problems that were facing Austria at the time.
