Maria Anna of Savoy was born in Italy, the daughter of Duke Charles Emmanuel II of Savoy and his wife, Christine of France. She married Emperor Ferdinand III in 1651, and they had five children together. Maria Anna was a devout Catholic, and she was known for her charitable work. She died in 1683, and was buried in the Imperial Crypt in Vienna.
