Born in 1968, Fernando Hierro is a retired Spanish professional footballer who played as a centre-back for several clubs, most notably Real Madrid and Málaga CF. With 89 international appearances for Spain, Hierro is the third-most capped player for his country, and he represented the nation at three FIFA World Cups and two UEFA European Championships. He is currently the sporting director of Real Oviedo.
