The answer is no. Tarja Turunen was not the original vocalist for Nightwish. The band was formed in 1996 by Tuomas Holopainen, Emppu Vuorinen, and Jukka Nevalainen. Their first vocalist was Tarja Turunen, who joined the band in 1996 and left in 2005. After her departure, Anette Olzon became the new vocalist until 2012. The current vocalist, Floor Jansen, joined the band in 2013.
