Floyd Patterson was the first heavyweight boxer to regain the title after losing it. In 1956, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history at the age of 21. He lost the title to Ingemar Johansson in 1959, but regained it in a rematch in 1960. He lost the title again to Sonny Liston in 1962, and retired from boxing in 1972.
