American political scientist Francis Fukuyama gained prominence for his book "The End of History and the Last Man," published in 1992. Fukuyama argued that liberal democracy may be the final form of human government and that the spread of Western values and institutions could lead to a more peaceful and prosperous world. He is currently a senior fellow at the Stanford University's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.
