Tuđman served as the last president of the Socialist Republic of Croatia's Presidency from 1990 until his death in 1999. During his presidency, Tuđman oversaw the peaceful dissolution of Yugoslavia and the creation of an independent Croatia. He is considered one of the most important figures in Croatian history.
