Frank Lloyd, born in Scotland, was the first Oscar winner from his country. He won two Academy Awards for Best Director in 1929 and 1932, for The Divine Lady and Cavalcade, respectively. Lloyd was also nominated for the Best Director Oscar for The Big House (1930), Cimarron (1931), and Mutiny on the Bounty (1935).
