Frederick II, King of Denmark and Norway, was born on 1 July 1534 in Haderslev, Duchy of Schleswig, to King Christian III of Denmark and Norway and Duchess Dorothea of Saxe-Lauenburg. Frederick was the second of their seven children. He was the heir apparent to the Danish and Norwegian thrones from his birth until his death.
