Gabriele Tarquini broke the record for the oldest World Champion in the FIA World Touring Car Championship by winning the 2009 title at the age of 46. He previously won the championship in 2001 and 2004. Tarquini's victory in 2009 was particularly impressive as he was driving for a privateer team, SEAT Sport, against the factory-backed teams of BMW, Chevrolet and SEAT.
