Answer
Gavin Williamson supported Theresa May for the Conservative Party leadership after David Cameron's resignation. Williamson had been a supporter of Cameron's during his time as Prime Minister, but he eventually decided to back May after she emerged as the frontrunner in the leadership contest. May was elected as leader of the Conservative Party in July 2016, and she became Prime Minister in September of that year.
