Answer

In September 1968, Gaylord Perry pitched a no-hitter against the Detroit Tigers at Tiger Stadium. Perry, a left-hander, threw 102 pitches in the game, striking out eight and walking two. The only hit he allowed was a single to Willie Horton in the fifth inning. Perry's no-hitter was the first in the American League since Jim Bunning's perfect game in 1964.
