Georg von Hertling became Count von Hertling in 1914. He was a German politician who served as Chancellor of Germany from 1917 to 1918. He was a member of the Catholic Center Party and was appointed chancellor by Kaiser Wilhelm II after the fall of Theobald von Bethmann-Hollweg. Hertling's government was tasked with negotiating an end to World War I, and he signed the Armistice of 11 November 1918.
