Cobham’s Cubs were a group of young Whig politicians led by Henry Temple, 2nd Viscount Cobham. They were named after Cobham’s estate, Stowe, which they frequently visited and where they plotted against the Tory government. The Cubs were a major political force in the early 1720s, but their influence waned after the death of Cobham in 1723.
