Who was George I's half-brother?

  • James Francis Edward Stuart

  • William of Orange

  • Richard Cromwell

  • George II

Answer

James Francis Edward Stuart, George I's half-brother, was the son of James II and Mary of Modena, hence known as the "Old Pretender" or the "Chevalier de St. George." Following the Glorious Revolution, which deposed their father in favor of William and Mary, James Francis became a Jacobite figurehead, leading two unsuccessful uprisings to reclaim the British throne.
